The Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower

Shooting up 468 meters into the sky, the Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the tallest in Asia and the third tallest in the world. Through development for more than 10 years, it has become a comprehensive tourist spot with a cultural colouring integrating transmission of broadcasting and TV signals, tourism, catering, shopping, escapist pursuit, meetings and conferences, and waterborne entertainment.
Here in the 350-meter Space Cabin, 263-meter Sightseeing Floor, and the 259-meter Outer Sightseeing Corridor, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole municipality. There is also a revolving restaurant rising 267 meters high into the sky. As the biggest ball-shaped part of the power, the ball-shaped structure with an indexed height of 90 meters and a diameter of 50 meters gives visitors the best height to feast their eye on the landscape of the Bund.
Located in the main hall on the ground floor is a gallery with a floor space of more than 10,000 meters. Through more than 1,000 kinds of cultural relics and over 100 waxworks, it showcases the urban development history of Shanghai. Mixing cultural relics into vivid scenes of everyday life with the help of voice, optical, electric and other modern exhibition methods, it unrolls the urban development history of Shanghai before the eye of visitors.
Each year, more than 3 million people visit the tower, with 30 per cent of them coming from abroad. Up to date, it has received more than 50 million visitors including more than 500 foreign heads of state and government leaders. The tower has been rated by the State Administration of Tourism as a 5A tourist spot at the national level.
