Expert Profiles
Li Jian, currently serves as Deputy Director of Research Department, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Director and Researcher of Youth Academic Research and Exchange Center, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. His main research areas include urban economy and spatial planning. He has been focusing on Yangtze River Delta integration, innovative economic development and innovation space, industrial parks in the recent five years. He has published five monographs, published more than 60 papers in academic journals such as Urban Geography, Academic Monthly, Journal of Social Sciences, and Urban Development Studies. He is responsible for two national projects, more than ten provincial and ministerial projects, and two major research projects of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences; in addition, he is responsible for the key research projects of Shanghai Municipal Development & Reform Commission, and decision-making consulting projects of Shanghai districts. He is responsible for nearly 50 research projects commissioned by local governments outside Shanghai in the fields of urban development strategy, industrial planning and innovation economy, spatial planning and land use, tourism planning, urbanization and population mobility.

He is selected as a young leader of Shanghai think tank (2024-2025). He is mainly engaged in the research on international trade theory and policy, and has published more than 40 papers in core journals at home and abroad, such as The Journal of Quantitative & Technical Economics, Journal of International Trade, International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets and 3 monographs. He has been awarded the first prize, second prize and third prize of the 14th, 13th, and 11th Shanghai Decision-making Consulting Research Achievement Award respectively, as a project leader. She has long been engaged in research on major theoretical and practical issues such as the development strategy of international shipping center, port and shipping policies, and the construction of free trade port area. She is deeply involved in the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and Free Trade Port, and has been tracking the development of Shanghai International Shipping Center for a long time. Her monograph The Construction of International Shipping Center from a Global Perspective has been widely recognized in the industry. She has provided decision-making consulting services for the Ministry of Transport, National Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, Hainan Provincial Transportation Department and other governmental departments. She has put forward a large number of policy recommendations that have been applied and put into practice. Shanghai International Shipping Institute under her leadership has become the only shipping think tank among the top 100 Class A think tanks in China. His main research fields are green finance, environmental economics, and energy and climate change economics. He has chaired many national, provincial and ministerial level researches, published 8 monographs and textbooks in English and Chinese, including An Introduction to Green Finance Theroy and Practice and ESG Theory and Practice, 2 translations, and more than 100 papers and articles in various journals and magazines.
