中国智元机器人全球人形机器人出货量登顶后加速海外扩张   2026-03-05

AgiBot, the Chinese startup that shipped more than 5,000 humanoid robots last year, is expanding overseas as the industry moves from prototypes to real-world deployment.

The company, headquartered in Shanghai's Zhangjiang technology hub, shipped more than 5,100 humanoid robots in 2025, ranking first globally with about 39% market share, according to research firm Omdia. That means nearly four out of every 10 humanoid robots sold worldwide came from the company.

Global shipments are forecast to reach about 13,000 units in 2025, Omdia's General-Purpose Embodied Robot Market Radar report shows.

Founded three years ago, AgiBot has surpassed 1 billion yuan (about US$144 million) in annual revenue.

The company recently introduced a full lineup of embodied robotics products and industry solutions for the German market at an event in Munich, formally marking its entry into Europe.

The launch followed the debut of its latest full-size humanoid robot, Expedition A3, designed for high-frequency interaction settings such as reception, retail and entertainment.

"Full-size humanoid robots are entering a new phase that combines physical capability with interactive intelligence," said ZHU Jie, AgiBot's vice-president.

The company sees 2025 as the first year of commercialization, with 2026 expected to mark the start of large-scale real-world deployment, Zhu said.

AgiBot develops most of its core technology in-house, including robot hardware, key components, AI models and operating systems. Its product lineup includes three robot series — Expedition, Lingxi and Genie — used in applications ranging from reception and entertainment to industrial manufacturing.

Industrial deployment has become a key focus. In October 2025, AgiBot began on-site testing of its Genie G2 industrial humanoid robot, designed for factory operations.

The robots have already been delivered under a procurement contract worth more than 100 million yuan with automotive parts supplier Joyson Electronics, where the robots are being deployed across production lines.

According to AI Wen, project delivery director for the Genie G2 program, the robots are now operating in hundreds of tasks on factory lines.

"Initial efficiency was roughly half that of a human worker," Ai said. "By 2026, productivity could reach 70% to 80% of human levels."

Future deployments are expected to expand into precision tasks such as material handling and inspection in sectors including automotive components, consumer electronics and semiconductors.

Zhu said most core components for humanoid robots can be sourced within a two-hour drive from Shanghai, highlighting the dense manufacturing supply chains of the Yangtze River Delta.

The company has also established joint laboratories with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University.

Shanghai is promoting the development of embodied artificial intelligence. In August 2025, the city released a plan aimed at building a 50 billion yuan embodied AI industry cluster by 2027, with subsidies covering up to 30% of project investment, capped at 50 million yuan.

Looking ahead, AgiBot plans to invest tens of billions of yuan over the next three years to incubate around 50 robotics and AI hardware startups, as it seeks to expand its technology overseas.
