Volant Aerotech eVTOL

Volant Aerotech, a Shanghai-based electric air taxi maker, announced on Monday that it closed a $300 million Series C funding round.

This round was led by Stone Venture, headquartered in Dubai, with participation from HSG and Fortera Capital. The existing shareholders — Future Capital and Legend Capital — also significantly increased their stakes.

The capital injection is earmarked for the airworthiness certification of its flagship VE25-100 model and is expected to accelerate its large-scale commercial delivery, as well as the expansion of Volant's global market footprint, according to the company.

The VE25-100 is a composite-wing aircraft targeting commercial passenger transport, featuring a spacious, flexible cabin, and safety standards comparable to civil airliners, designed to operate in diverse weather conditions with high dispatch rates.

So far, it has completed high-risk flight tests and the first successful manned flight that validated its handling and system stability. It is expected to complete the airworthiness certification in the first half of 2027.

The company's commercial momentum has surged since securing its first confirmed order last year. To date, it has secured orders of over 1,900 units of its eVTOL aircraft with a total value exceeding 47.5 billion yuan ($6.5 billion), including more than 500 overseas orders from partners in Thailand, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates. Last year, it signed a deal worth $1.75 billion with Thailand's Pan Pacific Co Ltd.
