上海加强党史教育 2026-07-01
Shanghai recently added more than 100 new Party history learning resources to its Hongtu, or Red Journey, platform, ahead of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on Wednesday.
The newly added resources cover five major categories — educational materials, thematic exhibitions, lecture series, cultural performances and special activities — catering to the diverse learning needs of government agencies, enterprises, communities, schools, military units and new social organizations.
Launched in 2021 to mark the centenary of the CPC, the platform was the first in the country to integrate Red cultural resources into a comprehensive digital application. It was developed by the Shanghai municipal Party committee's publicity department in collaboration with other institutions.
This year, to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the CPC's founding, Shanghai, the birthplace of the CPC, has launched an educational campaign on Party history, which will last through the end of the year, with the platform's improvements serving as a key component of the campaign.
The new learning resources draw on 30 city-level Party history education bases across Shanghai, as well as Red venues in all 16 districts. Thematic exhibitions and lectures are tailored to each district's historical characteristics, bringing high-quality Party history education closer to residents. Cultural performances and activities present Party history in a more vivid and accessible way, further broadening the appeal of the campaign. Together, these resources put educational activities within reach of every corner of the city.
The platform's manager said that these educational activities delve deep into the wisdom of the Party's historical achievements, helping Party members and officials draw lessons from over a century of struggle of the CPC.
"The Red Journey platform transforms the city's Red-themed sites into real-life classrooms, allowing Party members and officials to immerse themselves in the Party's historical journey and draw inspiration for their practices today," said Wan Liming, a professor at Tongji University's School of Marxism.
Organizers said that they will continue to improve the platform to provide Party members and the public with more accessible and efficient learning experiences that inspire them and foster a sense of unity. They added that such measures aim to carry forward the founding spirit of the Party and inject new impetus into the city's high-quality development in the new era.
Broad engagement
Since its launch, the platform has marked a new stage in the scientific and smart management of Shanghai's Red-themed resources. It offers comprehensive services, from navigation and site details to route recommendations and activity guides for Red-themed venues across the city.
On its launch day, the platform rolled out 100 visiting routes, 100 featured exhibitions, 100 Red-themed videos, 100 Party history lectures, and 100 thematic courses and experiential activities.
Qu Tingting, a primary school teacher in Shanghai's Fengxian district, said that she has frequently used the platform's route recommendations over the past five years to guide her students on educational visits. The routes, she noted, come with navigation support and historical background on each site.
She said that students particularly enjoy the platform's interactive activities at Red venues, which go beyond simple text-based learning.
Experts said the platform has given new momentum to Shanghai's preservation and use of Red cultural heritage. By the end of last year, it had aggregated more than 600 revolutionary sites and memorial facilities, along with 171 city-level patriotic education bases, and had attracted over 6.6 million registered users.
