Contestants in the 48th WorldSkills Competition have already started preparing at the official training bases of Shanghai College of Science and Technology.

Yicai on August 12 visited SCST to witness competitors’ simulation training for the upcoming WorldSkills Competition, which will be held in Shanghai from Sept. 22 to 27, featuring 64 skill competitions across six sectors.

As a key secondary vocational school responsible for the selection, training, and support of multiple WorldSkills Competitions, SCST has three training bases for as many skill competitions: autonomous mobile robotics and chemical laboratory technology under the manufacturing and engineering technology sector, and web technologies under the information and communication technology sector.

The chemistry laboratory technology skill competition has no theoretical written tests but assesses contestants’ integrated professional abilities for laboratory work. It was introduced in 2019 and evaluates three core areas: chemical analysis, multi-class instrument analysis, and organic synthesis.

As a core skill competition in the information and communication technology sector, web technologies focuses on full-stack web development, covering multiple dimensions, such as web design, interaction development, system construction, and user experience optimization.

The web technologies training base focuses on the complete implementation of code functions while emphasizing product design, user experience, technical document understanding, time management, and acting ability according to circumstances.
