AI照明技术在上海灯光节期间首次亮相   2026-09-29

Chinese consumers and cities are developing increasingly sophisticated needs for lighting, a senior official with Signify, a global lighting company, said.

"Lighting technology is evolving alongside China's changing needs," Karl Yin, CEO of Signify Greater China, said on Sept 22.

The company is expanding its generative artificial intelligence agents and connecting lighting systems into landscape lighting, following applications in road and office lighting. Its Interact Landmark Flex system enables multimodal interaction with light and can cut the cost and development time of lighting content planning by about 80 percent, according to the company.

The system made its debut during the 2026 Shanghai International Light Festival, which runs from Sept 17 to Oct 16.

Instead of manually adjusting colors, brightness and other parameters across multiple control systems, users can simply describe the desired atmosphere, color, or mood in natural language. The AI agent interprets the request and converts it into a "light recipe", which then drives lighting and related performance equipment in real time.

Olivia Qiu, global chief innovation officer at Signify, said AI is redefining light from a functional utility into an interactive medium capable of creating emotional resonance.

The shift also points to a broader change in the lighting industry: as cities and consumers seek more personalized experiences, lighting is moving from the background of a space to becoming part of the experience itself, she said.
