SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met Francis Gurry, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization on Tuesday.

Han said that innovation is a key strategic resource and intellectual property right protection is the foundation of innovation. Innovation is very essential for China and for Shanghai particularly.

Han added that Shanghai will fully adopt innovation-driven development. If intellectual property rights aren't protected, innovation will not be sustainable and Shanghai would have no future without sustainable innovation.
