A new makeshift hospital in Shanghai began admitting COVID-19 patients and asymptomatic cases on Wednesday, the city's health authorities announced.The makeshift hospital has been built at the Shanghai International Circuit in suburban Jiading District, which hosts the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix. It has a maximum capacity of 13,600 beds when fully operational.Jointly managed by six city hospitals – Renji Hospital, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, Shuguang Hospital, Shanghai Chest Hospital, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital and Shanghai ENT Hospital – the facility has adopted a tent-like design, which is better for ventilation and helps in reducing the virus concentration.
