Shanghai Electric, Shanghai Pudong Development link arms on rooftop solar projects

Two state-owned companies, Shanghai Pudong Development Group and Shanghai Electric Power, have formed a joint venture to build big photovoltaic power stations on rooftops in the eastern city's Pudong New Area.
Shanghai Pudong New Energy Development, which was founded on Aug. 5, will construct 23 projects with a total capacity of 30 megawatts in Pudong by 2025, the district recently announced on its WeChat account. The JV is scheduled to build 500 MW of PV projects by 2027.
The megacity will vigorously develop, research, and explore other forms of renewable energy resources, the statement added. Shanghai will strive to add 2,700 MW of PV capacity from 2021 to 2025, and some 600 MW of that should be in Pudong, according to the city’s 14th Five-Year Plan.
Shanghai Electric Power will contribute its cutting-edge technologies and solutions to help Pudong replace other types of energy resources with renewable and smart power, Lin Hua, an executive at one of the most important power companies in the city.
Shanghai Pudong Development will join forces with Shanghai Electric Power in clean and high-efficiency energy to build Pudong New Energy Development into a first-class enterprise, Li Junlan, chairwoman of the infrastructure construction company.
