While the 9th Asian Winter Games captivate audiences in Harbin 2025, a winter sports renaissance is unfolding in Shanghai, where residents are embracing the season's chill at the enchanting Guojin Skating Club nestled in the city's downtown Putuo District.

Drawing in crowds of eager visitors, especially students seeking the thrill of winter sports like ice skating, figure skating and ice hockey, the Guojin Skating Club has emerged as a beacon of frosty fun and athletic camaraderie as the winter season unfolds.

Yuan Shengkai, the club's director, speaking of the surge in interest from the public said, "Since the winter vacation, the number of customers at the sports center has increased by around 30 percent compared to the same period last year." With the buzz surrounding the Asian Winter Games, the club anticipates another spike in customer traffic throughout February.

Distinguished as the sole ice surface facility in Shanghai's downtown area constructed to Olympic standards, the ice sports center boasts an expansive total construction area exceeding 27,000 square meters. This includes a 1,800-square-meter ice rink equipped with advanced ice-making technology and rink control systems, ensuring a top-tier experience for all visitors.

Beyond providing a platform for public engagement in ice sports, the Guojin Skating Club plays a pivotal role in nurturing China's ice sports talents, hosting professional events and activities on a regular basis. This initiative underscores Putuo district's dedication to fostering and showcasing the country's burgeoning prowess in winter sports on a global stage.

In a parallel celebration of the winter sports spirit, Yuanlong Yato, a company with an East China regional headquarters in the Putuo district, has made significant strides in supporting the ongoing Asian Winter Games. Tasked once again with producing and retailing licensed merchandise for the event following the 24th Olympic Winter Games, the company has unveiled a staggering range of 2,248 products, with the event's beloved mascots, Binbin and Nini, stealing the spotlight.

The tiger-inspired mascot, ranging from plush toys to blind boxes, has resonated deeply with consumers, with over 100,000 units sold to date. Through its collaboration with the Asian Winter Games, Yuanlong Yato continues to infuse vitality into the regional economy, fostering a climate of innovation and prosperity in the heart of Shanghai's winter festivities.
