Shanghai Disney Resort to unveil new experiences for 9th-anniversary celebration
A highlight of the 9th anniversary celebrations is the introduction of Pixar Adventurous Journey, an all-new immersive and interactive Pixar movie-themed exhibition. Shanghai Disney Resort will introduce Stitch Space Base in Tomorrowland's open area, showcasing elements of the blue koala-like alien and his friends.
Shanghai Disney Resort is set to celebrate its 9th anniversary with an array of new experiences in June, as part of its commitment to bringing more wonder and joy.
The resort will commemorate its anniversary on June 16 with a special ceremony, which will feature the debut appearance of Tinker Bell from Walt Disney Animation Studios' classic animated film Peter Pan at Shanghai Disneyland. She will bring her presence to Fantasyland for a limited time.
"For nine years, our inspiring stories and experiences have filled guests with joy and happiness, capturing the hearts and imaginations of people of all ages. We're extremely pleased and humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response from guests, which inspires us to always keep reinventing the guest experience to give guests fresh reasons to return time and again," said Andrew Bolstein, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.
"As we commemorate the important milestone of our ninth anniversary while embarking on our next exciting chapter, we look forward to continuing to deliver enchanting experiences that spark joy for guests of all ages at this extraordinary destination through the magic of our storytelling and innovation," he added.
A highlight of the anniversary celebrations is the introduction of Pixar Adventurous Journey, an all-new immersive and interactive Pixar movie-themed exhibition, opening on June 27 in Tomorrowland.
The walk-through exhibition will feature seven designed areas inspired by Pixar films, including Inside Out, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Turning Red, Coco, Up and Soul. The exhibition combines Disney's storytelling with interactive experiences, featuring character sculptures, immersive decor, dynamic lighting, atmospheric audio effects, and high-tech interactives such as motion simulation.

Visitors will be able to meet some of Pixar's characters, including Joy and Sadness, Red Panda Mei, Sulley and much more. Among them will be three new Pixar Pals, Carl Fredricksen, Bing Bong and Edna Mode, who made their Shanghai Disneyland debut earlier this month.
The resort will also introduce Stitch Space Base in Tomorrowland's open area, launching on June 26, Stitch Day. This area will become a Stitch-themed neighborhood showcasing elements of the blue koala-like alien and his friends.
In addition to having video chats with Experiment 626 through Space Chat with Stitch and having themed shopping and dining experiences at Intergalactic Imports and Star Trail Snacks, beginning June 26, visitors will also have the chance to meet Stitch, Lilo or Angel randomly at Galaxy Gathering.
Adventure Isle will debut the Junior Explorers Camp on June 16, transforming the former Excavation Site into an outdoor play area themed around three distinct natural environments inspired by The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Up. Young visitors can challenge themselves on rope courses, climbing towers and slides and stairs challenges.
Looking ahead, Shanghai Disney Resort continues its expansion plans with construction already underway for its 9th themed land featuring Spider-Man, while work progresses on the resort's third themed hotel.
