Global firms hail CIIE for unlocking huge domestic opportunities
The China International Import Expo (CIIE) returns each November to Shanghai, showcasing China's pledge to further opening up and to sharing its development opportunities with the world.
First held in 2018, the CIIE is the first national-level exhibition dedicated to imports, and has been consistently improving in scale and effectiveness.
Dozens of countries and international organizations have confirmed participation in the national exhibition of the upcoming expo, and many of the frequent exhibitors said they have reaped fruitful benefits from the event.

The CIIE unlocks domestic business opportunities for Jungheinrich.
Jungheinrich
A leading supplier of industrial trucks, warehousing and intralogistics, Jungheinrich is participating in the CIIE for the eighth straight year.
Through the past seven years, the German company has greatly raised brand awareness and competency for its localized offerings.
"We have received favorable market feedback for our debut items showcased at the CIIE," said Bai Daping, managing director of Jungheinrich China. "The China International Import Expo serves as the ultimate testing ground for cutting-edge products and solutions."
Jungheinrich's automated high-bay storage solutions have attracted continuous attention through the CIIE and media coverage for multiple years.
Particularly in 2023, its automated storage projects achieved over 50 percent sales growth, with satisfactory results both in terms of brand influence and business expansion.
It has unlocked immense domestic business opportunities for Jungheinrich's high-bay stacking and automated warehousing solutions.
Leveraging the robust parts supply chain in the Yangtze River Delta region, Jungheinrich has accelerated its product localization, enhancing the competitiveness of its offerings.
This enables the Hamburg-headquartered company to expand its presence in the Chinese market faster and more effectively deliver premium quality at affordable prices.
This year one of its highlights will be the Jungheinrich SMART Plus interactive zone.
Through modular design and simulation technology, this area will enable customers to experience the rapid deployment and efficient simulation operation of automated warehouse systems on-site.
Customers' growing demand for "visualizable and simulatable" automation designs has driven the company to increase investment in the implementation technology of SMART simulation software.
It also plans to introduce automated warehouse solutions that deliver intelligent, low-carbon operations with annual energy savings of up to 10 percent.

DHL introduces many new products and solutions to Chinese customers.
DHL
This year, DHL will continue to focus on core trends: sustainable logistics, digital logistics, and enhancing supply chain resilience, and showcase customized products and services that fit local transportation and logistics demands.
Aditi Rasquinha, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding China, including Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, said:"The CIIE platform has facilitated excellent communication and positive feedback from both the industry and customers."
"Through the CIIE, we have introduced many new products and solutions to Chinese customers, such as our DHL GoGreen Plus solutions. They have been widely adopted by Chinese customers, indicating strong market interest and recognition of green logistics in China." she added.
DHL plans to continue to enrich its sustainable logistics products and use the CIIE platform to promote them to more Chinese customers, she added.
At the expo, the German logistics giant has the opportunity to engage with thousands of importers and purchasers from across China.
"Companies are increasingly focused on supply chain resilience and risk management, with heightened interests on the massive growth opportunities in emerging markets like ASEAN, the Middle East, and Latin America and this will guide DHL to optimize its global routes and network configuration, offering more diversified logistics products," Rasquinha noted.
In recent years, the company also customized services for high-growth Chinese sectors like advanced manufacturing, new energy, and life sciences & healthcare.
DHL Global Forwarding last year established a new "Center of Excellence" for new energy vehicles in Shanghai.
"We have witnessed and benefited from the city's tireless efforts to enhance trade facilitation, and over the past five years, there has been noticeable improvements in customs clearance efficiency, the International Single Window initiative, and overall cross-border trade convenience," Rasquinha pointed out.
"We are highly confident about Shanghai's development over the next five years and will continue to prioritize the core pillars of digitalization, green transformation, and resilience.
"We anticipate that the 15th Five-Year Plan will put greater emphasis on supply chain security and resilience, which will generate new demand for high-standard, customized, and intelligent logistics services, and we expect Shanghai to fortify its status as an international shipping and trade center."

The CIIE highlights Lesaffre's latest innovations.
Lesaffre
According to Jérôme Vanachter, president of Lesaffre China, the CIIE not only highlights the company's latest innovations but also brings Chinese and French culinary culture to the world.
Lesaffre will launch the fully imported Panettone Premix at this year's CIIE, helping bakers boost efficiency for the upcoming festive season.
The French yeast producer, with presence in the Chinese market for over 40 years, has been leveraging the CIIE platform to showcase and introduce its innovative products to a wider audience, enabling the public to learn about the company and ultimately win their trust in its brands and products.
At this year's fair, other exciting new products include new items from the "Livendo" brand focusing on natural ingredients and flavor, as well as upgraded "Clean Label" solutions that respond to consumers' growing demand for healthy food.
"The CIIE has shown us that China remains one of the world's most dynamic and promising markets," he added.
"We can also figure out the clear shifts of the Chinese market toward premiumization, health, and functionality, with consumers increasingly interested in the science and value chain behind their food."
Responding to this, Lesaffre is leveraging global R&D capabilities in combination with local taste insights to bring fermentation-based solutions that truly match market trends.
The expo opens up tremendous opportunities for fermentation technologies, functional ingredients, and natural solutions.
"Moving forward, we look forward to collaborating with more premium domestic partners to deepen product research and development cooperation. Together, we will create a series of innovative products that align with the preferences of consumers both domestically and internationally," said Vanachter.
