In celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival and the upcoming National Day, Shanghai's Jinshan district launched a wide variety of diverse and immersive experiences with unique festive vibes.

With a history of about 1,000 years, this year's Zhujing Lantern Show kicked off at the Donglin Culture Square in the district's Zhujing town on Friday, marking this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese calendar and is traditionally celebrated with family reunions and moongazing.

Running through Oct 7, the show also marks the Jinshan session of the ongoing third Shanghai International Light Festival. Expanded to a cultural tourism carnival, the event is also taking place at the town's Shanghai Blooming Garden (Huakai Haishang Ecological Park), featuring dazzling lanterns, light shows, music concerts, art performances, special markets, natural tours, as well as interactive traditional tea and incense activities.

In the district's Shanyang town, a market showcasing local delicacies and intangible cultural heritage began on Saturday. Home to Shanghai's last fishing village, the event captivated both local residents and visitors from across the city with festive gatherings and fresh seafood dishes embodying traditional fishing cultures.

Running till the end of October, the event also includes various activities to help visitors experience local fish lantern and weaving craftsmanship.

Furthermore, several events were held at the district's Jinshan Seaside Grassland, a rare coastal grassland landscape. First opened to the public in June, the 560,000-square-meter grassland has drawn large crowds seeking a relaxing and soothing experience in the green.

In addition to the broad landscape, art shows integrated with traditional cultures, seaside moon-viewing activities, car boot fairs, games and firework shows fascinated visitors from morning to night.

Delicately integrating culture, commerce, tourism, sports, exhibitions and agriculture, the district is set to offer more activities and continuously creating an immersive cultural and tourism extravaganza spanning the Mid-Autumn Festival and the approaching National Day holiday.
