ZHANGJIANG High-Tech Park in the Pudong New Area will become a mature and cross-industry national science hub by 2020 to help Shanghai become a global innovation center.

The Shanghai Development and Reform Commission said the project has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The center will introduce innovation-oriented evaluation mechanism in state-owned enterprises and quicken the process of the city's service-oriented economic transformation, Shanghai's Mayor Yang Xiong said in January.
