New policy gives architects final say over projects
A new practice is being tested in China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone to give architects full authority over construction projects, officials said at a seminar on June 28.
Chinese architects usually are responsible for providing blueprints and the rest of the projects are the responsibility of the government.
The new practice, however, gives the chief architect full authority over issues, such as overall planning, collective review, architectural design, construction supervision, building maintenance and support facilities, same as chief architects in developed countries.
