Shanghai aims to spur digital economy
SHANGHAI aims to integrate medical, education and transport with new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to boost the city's digital economy.
Data, mobile Internet applications for public services and an upgraded network infrastructure will spur a more intelligent living daily to local citizens, said the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
In the first three quarters, Shanghai’s software and information service industry revenue grew 18.5 percent year on year to 210.6 billion yuan (US$31.9 billion). The city's electronics output rose 12.2 percent in the first 10 months, almost double the city’s gross domestic product, according to the commission, the city’s top industry regulator.
