Clerks train as judges to ease shortage
Shanghai's first batch of 157 clerks-turned-judges is bringing new blood to local courts.
The 157 new judges, aged from 28 to 41, were selected from 296 law clerks across the city who underwent a series of exams, including written tests and mock trials, since September.
The new judges will be dispatched to grassroots courts to hear cases, the Shanghai High People’s Court said Monday.
