Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Denis Sassou Nguesso, president of the Republic of the Congo, and his delegation last Saturday.
Li welcomed Nguesso on behalf of the Shanghai Government. He said China and the Republic of the Congo have been friends since the two established diplomatic relations 54 years ago, and president Nguesso has visited China and Shanghai many times.
President Nguesso’s current visit and his attendance at the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and his meeting with President Xi Jinping have produced fruitful results to bring new dynamics into the China and the Republic of the Congo relations.
