Emergency drill staged ahead of CIIE
An emergency rescue and medical service drill was conducted in Shanghai on Monday as part of the city's preparations for the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE).
A total of six government departments and units, 13 emergency vehicles, two helicopters and some 100 people participated the drill to improve the city’s emergency preparedness.
The drill simulated a fire on a cruise ship on the Huangpu River. As part of the exercise, 50 "injured" people had to be rushed to Ruijin Hospital, including two transported by helicopter, while police and rescue workers were dispatched to extinguish the "fire" and offer timely treatment.
