Four new subcenters are planned for the Pudong New Area to serve its ambition to become an open, innovative and outstanding district.
Shanghai's planning authority has publicized a general blueprint for Pudong through 2035. The over 1,400-square-kilometer region is targeted at being a key downtown area of a modern metropolis with global influence.
By 2035, 85 percent of residents will choose green transport, while the proportion of good air quality days will also reach 85 percent. The density of PM2.5, a major pollutant, will be controlled to beneath 25 micrograms per cubic meter throughout the year.
