After months of closure, cinemas prepare to reopen
More than 200 cinemas in Shanghai will reopen their doors on Saturday after being closed for over two months due to the coronavirus outbreak, local officials announced at a press conference on Thursday.
Strict public health measures will be enforced to ensure the safety of cinema-goers. For instance, viewers must wear face masks, present their health QR codes and have their temperatures taken. They are also encouraged to sit in staggered rows to avoid close contact.
On Friday, the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association will rehearse new admission procedures at the Shanghai Film Art Center and Hoyts Cinema. Officials from the association said they will practice and confirm details related to screenings, on-site ticketing and snack bar sales.
