China's Lenovo Boosts Net Profit to Record High April-Sept. Due to Resilience
Lenovo Group, a Chinese personal computer giant, managed to increase its net profit to a record high of USD1.1 billion in the six months ended Sept. 30 thanks to the resilient force of digital transformation around the globe.
Net profit rose by 8 percent during the six months from a year ago amid an emerging demand for information technology and growth in Lenovo's infrastructure solution business, the Beijing-based firm wrote in its earnings report released today. But revenue dropped by 2 percent to USD34 billion. The company had a slew of headwinds as it was coping with the global situation of fluctuating exchange rates, rising inflation, sluggish consumption, and geopolitical uncertainties.
However, Lenovo's net profit margin jumped by 0.29 percentage points to the highest point in the past 15 years during the two quarters, but the firm did not reveal the exact figure.
The smart device business group, consisting of PCs, tablet computers, and smartphones, reported a 7 percent decline in revenue to USD28 billion. The related operating profit fell by 8 percent to USD2.1 billion. Revenue from the firm's infrastructure solution business surged by 24 percent to a historic high of USD4.7 billion.
In the quarter ended Sept. 30, Lenovo's net profit climbed by 6 percent to USD541 million from a year ago while its revenue slid by 4 percent to USD1.7 billion.
