Invitation for Shakespeare’s Sonnets recital

Since the year 2016 is the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, Shanghai Library and Shanghai People’s Publishing House will jointly host the launching ceremony of a rare-edition Wire-Bound Shakespeare’s Sonnets Collection and sonnets recital. The book, with an authoritative Chinese translation as its master copy, is published with traditional Chinese characters in the form of vertical character arrangement and wire binding, a best commemoration of an oriental civilized country to this world literary giant. The translator of this book Mr. Tu An will attend the sonnets recital. As a famous poet and translator in China, Mr. Tu An began to translate Shakespeare’s Sonnets in the 1940s and the first complete Chinese translation was published in 1950.
We sincerely invite you to attend this sonnets recital, in which you may choose to recite Shakespeare’s poetries you like in English or in Chinese. The arrangement is as follows:
Date: 10:00 am-11:00am, April 23, 2016, Saturday;
Address: Music Room (Room 5326, No. 1555 Middle Huaihai Road).
Persons from Shanghai Library, Shanghai People’s Publishing House and British Consulate-General in Shanghai and the students from home and abroad will also attend the event.
To participate in the event, you need to sign up by sending an e-mail to cwwendy813@163.com before 12:00 on April 21.
