We sincerely invite you to watch the New Oriental Chinese Music Scene by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra at the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall on August 25 (Thursday).

The New Oriental Chinese Music Scene has been the most frequently performed classic program by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra in recent years. It is a bold attempt in folk music performances, which not only created new history of Chinese music performances, but also opened a new chapter of contemporary Shanghai-style folk music. The first round of resident performances in 2021 reshaped the experience of audiences of all ages. This year, the upgraded version will once again demonstrate the rich artistic expression of contemporary folk music through the integration of Chinese music, light and shadow, and stage space.

Luo Xiaoci, head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, and Fang Liang, general manager of Shanghai Concert Hall, will be interviewed. Luo Xiaoci, a zheng player, is the vice chairman of the Shanghai Musician Association, head of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, and a national first-class performer. She is adept at exploring the modern meaning of traditional Chinese literati music in her works, and well integrates nationality, modernity and personality. Fang Liang, general manager of Shanghai Concert Hall, graduated from Shanghai Theater Academy with a master’s degree in art management. She has many years of experience in performance planning, marketing, and arts popularization.
