We will arrange the first session of the academic salon for media under the theme of “Opportunities in China” at 14:30 on March 19 (Tuesday) in the café on the first floor of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (7, Lane 622, Middle Huaihai Road). Industry experts will present their insights on the national Two Sessions.

Profiles

 

Liu Liang, a researcher and doctoral supervisor, currently holds the position of Deputy Director at the Institute of Applied Economy within the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Concurrently, he serves as a part-time researcher at the Research Institute of Chinese Economy, Fudan University. Additionally, Liu is the Chief Expert of the “Dual Circulation Theory and Practice” innovation team at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. His academic pursuits extend globally as he holds positions as a visiting scholar at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) in Taiwan, China. Liu has presided over 2 National Social Science Fund projects, 6 national high-end think tank projects, and a dozen of research projects commissioned by various governmental bodies and organizations. His scholarly contributions are extensive, with articles featured in significant domestic publications and core journals such as Economic Research and Statistical Research. His academic portfolio boasts over 20 academic papers totaling nearly 300,000 words. Notably, over 10 of his reports have garnered pivotal instructions or adoptions within the realm of decision-making consulting. Liu has also served in interim roles as the Depuy Director of the Comprehensive Research Division at the Shanghai Financial Services Office, as well as Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Division at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.

Zhan Yubo is the Director of the Western Economics Research Office, Institute of Economics, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, as well as a researcher and doctoral supervisor. Zhan is also the Director of the Innovative Economy Research Center and Chief Expert of the Innovation Project team. He serves as a part-time researcher at the Research Institute of Chinese Economy, Fudan University and Fudan-Pingan Research Institute for Marcoeconomy. Zhan’s scholarly contributions are profound, with more than 30 papers published in esteemed journals both domestically and internationally. His research endeavors extend beyond publications, as he has presided over a dozen of impactful projects. These include initiatives such as the General Program supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the General Program supported by the Shanghai Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, the national high-end think tank project, and Full-English Demonstration Course Project supported by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Zhan’s expertise is further validated by the reception of instructions from national, provincial, and ministerial leaders on his advice and recommendations.

Zhou Fengqi, Ph.D. and researcher, is the Director of the Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Zhou holds key positions within academic societies, serving as the President of the Shanghai Ecological Economics Society and the Vice Chair of the China Ecological Economics Society. Zhou served as a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions such as the Fairbank Center at Harvard University in 2001 and the University of Oxford in 2005. His research interests span a wide array of topics within resource and environmental economics, green economy, and environmental policy. Among her notable contributions are the Shanghai Resource and Environmental Development Report (Annual) and the Frontiers of Ecological Economics Theory. Zhou’s recent projects have focused on critical areas such as environmental performance management systems, the ecology of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, comparative studies on environmental governance and sustainable development progress between China and OECD countries, as well as regional natural balance sheets.
