1. Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Trade Center

Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Trade Center (hereinafter referred to as Xijiao International) is a modern, comprehensive wholesale market for agricultural products in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region. Invested in and operated by Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Trade Co., Ltd., it stands as one of Shanghai’s key projects. Serving not only Shanghai but also the entire country, Xijiao International connects domestic and international markets. It plays a pivotal role as a primary channel for agricultural products entering Shanghai and reaching global markets. By breaking through traditional agricultural trade models, Xijiao International is committed to enhancing business formats, standardizing operations, ensuring food safety, and utilizing state-of-the-art facilities. As a result, it has established itself as a large-scale, integrated hub for agricultural products trading.

Xijiao International covers an area of 1,658 mu, with a total construction space of 450,000 square meters. It is divided into three main sections: wholesale trading, display and direct sales, and testing services. The center operates with a unified approach — one brand, one management system, one operational mode, one settlement process, and a consistent service framework. Leading the industry with international standards, Xijiao International benefits from an exceptional location and operates with high management standards. The center offers a full range of services, including wholesale trading, display and direct sales, logistics and distribution, import and export agency services, e-commerce, and information release. It serves as a hub where farmers and merchants from around the world converge, bringing agricultural products from all directions.

Xijiao International is a public-benefiting and innovative agricultural market, guided by the Shanghai Municipal Government and funded by eight leading industry enterprises. With strong support from shareholders such as Bright Food Group, Shanghai Vegetable Group, Shanghai Cao’an Vegetable Basket Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shengyuan Investment Co., Ltd., Shanghai Dajiang Co., Ltd., Shanghai Fruit Company, Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Development Co., Ltd., and Greenland Group, the market has flourished rapidly, thanks to careful operation and broad societal involvement.

Xijiao International has prominent advantages: large transaction scale and a wide variety of commodities; broad market coverage, relying on Shanghai’s immense consumer power and connecting the Yangtze River Delta with most provinces across China; strong government support and numerous preferential policies; extensive international connections, bringing in foreign merchants and a diverse range of goods; authoritative agricultural product testing, ensuring safety, full traceability, and providing fresh, abundant, and safe food; comprehensive market services, standardized management, and efficient logistics. Quality life begins here; a continuous flow of wealth gathers here.

2. Shanghai Vegetable Group

Shanghai Vegetable (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Bright Food Group, traces its origins to Shanghai Vegetable Company, which was founded in January 1956. In 1999, the company was restructured to align with the modern enterprise system, transforming into a leading state-owned enterprise in the agricultural products circulation sector. The group operates and manages a wide range of agricultural wholesale markets, including those for vegetables, fruits, grains and oils, meat, frozen goods, aquatic products, dry goods from both the north and south, and flowers. It has also developed new business models such as fresh food distribution and e-commerce, alongside supporting sectors like hotels, catering, and property management. The group comprises more than 10 subsidiaries and owns seven agricultural products wholesale markets, including Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Trade Center, Shanghai Jiangqiao Wholesale Market, Shanghai Jiangyang Agricultural Products Wholesale Market, and Shanghai Jiangyang Aquatic Products Wholesale Market. In 2020, the group’s annual wholesale transaction volume of agricultural products exceeded 5.23 million tons, with vegetables, pork carcass, and fruits making up 70%, 60%, and over 50% of the city’s total wholesale volume, respectively. It holds the largest market share in Shanghai and serves as the main channel and key force in ensuring the city’s agricultural product supply.

3. Panlong Tiandi

Panlong Tiandi is in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, adjacent to the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, and just two Metro stops from the Hongqiao Hub. It is one of the first “urban village” renovation benchmark projects launched in Shanghai in 2014. Construction officially began in May 2019, with full completion and operation achieved in May 2023, making it the last approved yet first completed and opened “urban village” renovation demonstration project in Shanghai. The project spans a total planned construction area of over 500,000 square meters, including 230,000 square meters of public green space, 250,000 square meters of international residential areas, 50,000 square meters of commercial space in the ancient town, and a future-oriented “Jiangnan New World.”

Panlong Tiandi’s spatial layout includes Temple Market, South Market, North Market, and Shizi Street. The Temple Market, located next to Panlong Temple, focuses on cultural activities and outdoor experiences. The South Market offers a waterfront dining space, providing a unique humanistic and social experience for both locals and tourists. The North Market, adjacent to Panlong Catholic Church, is dedicated to living facilities, featuring boutique hotels, kid centers, supermarkets, fitness centers, beauty salons, and other services. Surrounded by 230,000 square meters of green space, the 50,000 square meters of commercial space is often referred to as the “New World in the Park.”

Currently, there are nearly 160 businesses in the Panlong commercial complex, including over 20 first local stores in Shanghai and more than 60 first regional stores of various brands, boasting an occupancy rate of over 90%. Among these, the catering sector accounts for nearly 60% (by brand count), retail makes up 20%, and services and entertainment represent the remaining 20%. Cumulative sales in the first two months of operation reached 160 million yuan, with average monthly sales now around 60 million yuan. Panlong Tiandi is a pet-friendly community, featuring an 800-square-meter pet park, with 30% of the businesses in the area catering to pet owners.
