The 2025 sessions of the NPC and the CPPCC National Committee (“Two Sessions”) closed recently. Shen Kaiyan, Director, Research Fellow and Doctoral Supervisor, Institute of Economics, SASS. Prof. Shen is a “Zhongli Scholar” under the Social Science Masters Program, a leading professional of Shanghai and a member of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee. She also serves as Vice President of Shanghai Economist Association and Vice President of Shanghai Association of Women’s Studies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Nanjing University and master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from SASS and is a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Jawaharlal Nehru University and the University of Cambridge. Her main areas of interest include political economics, economic reform and development strategy, regional economy and Yangtze River Delta integrated development, globalization and innovation economy.
Liu Liang, Deputy Director, Research Fellow and Doctoral Supervisor, Institute of Applied Economy, SASS. He once presided over two research projects funded by National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), projects of China top think tanks, decision-making advisory projects of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and Shanghai Municipality, six projects funded by Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Fund and more than 10 research projects commissioned by municipal committees, offices and bureaus. Prof. Liu has received such awards and honors as the First Prize for Major Achievements under the 13th Five-Year Plan of Shanghai and the SASS Zhang Zhongli Academic Award.
Sheng Lei, Deputy Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Sciences & Research Fellow and Doctoral Supervisor, SASS. Prof. Sheng is a member of the Shanghai Oriental Young Talents Program and the Shanghai Shuguang Scholars Program. He has published more than 100 papers and articles in domestic and foreign journals, including Academic Monthly and Fudan Journal, as well as more than 10 books. He has presided over about a dozen provincial and higher-level research projects funded by NSSFC and the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), among other institutions. Many of his research findings were reprinted in full by Abstracts of New China and Renmin University of China Photocopies of Materials from Newspapers and Periodicals, among other publications.
Tao Xidong, Deputy Head and Research Fellow of the Center for Think Tank Studies at SASS, Ph.D., council member of Shanghai Sociological Association and council member of Chinese Sociological Association. He primarily studies theories and advises on decisions in such areas as regional governance, urban governance, social governance, community governance and cross-boundary governance. Mr. Tao has published more than 100 academic papers, independently written six books, and presided over or participated in more than 30 horizontal and vertical research projects. A few of his special reports received comments from leading officials at central and municipal governments.
