Speaker Profiles

Yang Jianwen is chairman of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Academy of Productivity Science. He previously served as director of the Institute of Economics at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, head of industrial economics studies and director of its Financial Research Center. He has long focused on industrial economics and development economics, leading or participating in six national key research projects and more than 20 major provincial and municipal research programs. He has published 16 books, three translated works and more than 350 academic papers, including over 20 overseas publications. Yang has received the Sun Yefang Award in Economic Sciences and the State Council Special Allowance, and was recognized as a Shanghai leading talent. He also serves as a specially appointed policy adviser to the Shanghai municipal government.

Shao Yu holds a PhD in finance, completed postdoctoral research at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and was a SWIRE Scholar at the University of Oxford. He currently serves as a member of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and chief economist at the Center for Sci-tech Innovation Management, School of Management, Fudan University. He is also a researcher at Fudan University’s Institute of Finance and a distinguished senior researcher at the National Institution for Finance & Development. Shao previously served as assistant president and chief economist of Orient Securities, deputy director of the Shanghai Baoshan District Development and Reform Commission, and deputy director of the Department of International Finance at Fudan University. He has contributed policy recommendations to government reports and the 14th Five-Year Plan outline, and has written columns for publications including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Caixin.

Gu Zhaoqin is a partner at the Hongqiao Branch of Duan & Duan Law Firm in Shanghai. Trained extensively in the Anglo-American legal system, he works in both Chinese and English. He specializes in cross-border trade, international dispute resolution, asset recovery in the United Kingdom, and compliance related to international exhibitions and intellectual property. He serves as a long-term legal adviser to the operator of the China International Import Expo. With extensive experience in international arbitration and enforcement of overseas judgments, he has handled complex cross-border cases involving British legal elements, including cryptocurrency asset recovery and coordination between civil and criminal proceedings. He also advises clients on cross-border investment structures, offshore company establishment and compliance solutions.
