Accelerate the Efforts to Release the CIIE Effect, Highlight Shanghai’s International Image as an Open City and Improve the City’s Development Momentum - 2024-11-03
In the global economic landscape, the process of globalization has encountered unprecedented challenges. For the sake of their own interests, some Western countries have implemented anti-globalization policies, set up trade barriers, provoked trade disputes, and tried to cut off the close connection between the global industrial chain and supply chain. This short-sighted behavior has brought enormous uncertainty to the stability and development of global economy. However, facing the countercurrent of anti-globalization, China has shown the attitude of a major country by firmly holding the banner of globalization and becoming the mainstay of maintaining the world economic order and promoting global common development.
China actively practices the concept of open development. The CIIE is a vivid example. As an important window for China to open its door to the world, it fully demonstrates China’s determination to open its door wider. Each session of the CIIE attracts many enterprises and merchants from all over the world. They gather in China to participate in the global trade event with high-quality products, advanced technologies and innovative ideas. At the CIIE, a wide variety of goods fill the exhibition hall, ranging from high-end manufacturing equipment to daily consumer goods, from cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements to featured cultural products. This is not only a platform for trade negotiations, but also a stage for promoting cultural exchanges and economic cooperation among countries. Through the CIIE, China has sent a strong signal to the world - China is willing to share development opportunities with countries worldwide and jointly promote the prosperity of global economy.
Holding the CIIE is of great significance to Shanghai. It has greatly enhanced Shanghai’s image as an open city and made it a key hub connecting China and the world. As China’s largest economic center and international metropolis, Shanghai has been known for its openness and inclusiveness. The arrival of the CIIE has injected strong vitality into Shanghai’s opening up and development. During the CIIE, Shanghai becomes the focus of global attention. Its infrastructure, services, business environment, etc. are scrutinized by the world in all aspects. Shanghai relies on its efficient organizational capabilities, complete transportation network and high-quality service guarantee to ensure the success of the CIIE and demonstrate its excellent urban management and international standards to the world.
With the help of the CIIE platform, Shanghai continues to deepen economic cooperation and cultural exchanges with countries around the world. Many international enterprises have learned about Shanghai through the CIIE, understood its investment environment and development opportunities, and set up headquarters, R&D centers or branches in Shanghai. This not only promotes the city’s industrial upgrading and innovative development but also further enhances its status and influence in the global city network. Meanwhile, the CIIE also creates opportunities for Shanghai’s local enterprises to communicate and learn with their international counterparts, thus helping them improve competitiveness and enter the international market.
Moreover, the CIIE has a positive impact on Shanghai’s cultural development. During the CIIE, cultural elements of various countries blend with each other in Shanghai. The colorful cultural activities help people feel the unique charm of different countries and regions. The cultural exchange and collision enrich Shanghai’s urban cultural connotation and cultivate a more open and inclusive urban cultural atmosphere. Shanghai citizens can also broaden their international vision and increase their understanding and recognition of different cultures by participating in relevant activities. In addition, the CIIE effect is also reflected in its radiation and driving effect on surrounding areas. As the core city of the Yangtze River Delta region, Shanghai has formed a closer economic connection and coordinated development pattern with surrounding cities through the CIIE. The flow of people, logistics, capital and information brought by the CIIE has provided new impetus and opportunities for the economic development of surrounding areas and promoted regional integrated development.
In order to better release the effect of the CIIE, Shanghai needs to continuously optimize the development environment. On the one hand, it needs to strengthen infrastructure construction and improve the city’s carrying capacity and operating efficiency; on the other hand, it needs to continuously optimize the business environment, simplify administrative approval procedures, improve government service efficiency, and provide enterprises with better development conditions. Meanwhile, we must strengthen talent training and introduction to attract more talents with international vision and professional skills to Shanghai and provide intellectual support for the city’s development.
In front of the challenges faced by globalization today, China has demonstrated its responsibility as a major country and its determination of opening up by holding the CIIE. As the host of the CIIE, Shanghai has made full use of this opportunity to continuously improve its open image, become an important bridge connecting China and the world, and continuously enhance the development momentum with institutional openness. I believe that in the future, with the continuous development of the CIIE, Shanghai will play a more important role on the global economic stage and contribute more to promoting the process of globalization and building a community with a shared future for mankind. I expect that Shanghai will make continuous progress on the journey of open development, welcome the future with a more confident and open attitude, show the world the image as an international metropolis full of vitality and charm, continuously amplify the CIIE effect, and make Shanghai a model for open global cooperation.
