In the west wing of Zhangjiang Science Hall in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park on July 20, a special "science party" covering the cutting-edge technology of artificial intelligence reverberated throughout the complex -- with participants made up of a group of young students.
The workshop aims to educate young people on AI technology principles and applications, highlighting the major potential and wide-ranging opportunities of AI-generated content, also known as AIGC, according to its organizers. The event also addresses the ethical and legal implications of AI applications.
Chen Wenjuan, a professor at Communication University of China, delivered a lesson titled "Deepfake - Fraudulent Techniques in the Future World" and aimed at nurturing students to become future advocates and practitioners of technology for the greater good.

The workshop is one of the many activities of the 2024 Zhangjiang Science Hall Science Festival, themed "Ignite Light for Children".
This year's festival running until August is centered on AI and Zhangjiang's core industries, such as those covering arithmetic chips, future cities, embodied intelligence and life exploration.
The festival includes 45 thematic lectures, interactive courses and over 10 experiential activities, showcasing cutting-edge AI technology and offering youngsters opportunities to participate in science popularization activities

Under the guidance of the publicity department of the Shanghai Pudong New Area and Shanghai Zhangjiang Science City Construction Management Office, the festival is organized by Shanghai Zhangjiang Group.
Yuan Tao, chairman of Shanghai Zhangjiang Group, said it invites high-tech enterprises to contribute to the development of the hi-tech park and welcomes students to choose Zhangjiang as their destination after graduation.
Lu Xiaowei, executive director of the Shanghai Zhangjiang Science Hall Operation and Management Company, said the science hall is dedicated to harnessing the global power of science and innovation, creating an open and integrated platform for knowledge sharing.

Referring to the "Ignite Light for Children" theme, Lu said light carries multiple meanings including the tenacious spirit of Zhangjiang's residents and science hall mascot "Guangbao", which reflects the dreams of youth and injects a constant stream of innovation into the development of high-tech industries.
