A fine arts exhibition featuring artworks on Shanghai's history, achievements and its residents' quality of life is taking place on campus at Fudan University in Shanghai.

A fine arts exhibition highlighting Shanghai's history, achievements and its residents' quality of life is taking place in the city's Fudan University, offering students a chance to get up close to art and feel its charm right on their campus.

Co-organized by the university and China Art Museum, the exhibition features selected paintings from several highly acclaimed shows held previously by the museum, covering various styles and forms such as Chinese paintings, oil paintings, prints and watercolors.

The artworks on display showcase the city's history, as well as its political, economic and cultural achievements, while depicting warm pictures of residents' improved quality of life. Also, diverse art promotions and public educational activities are also on offer, aiming to enhance students' understanding about the city and appreciation of arts, as well as provide them with a platform to showcase their talent.

Artistic literacy and aesthetic sensibilities are regarded as an important part of cultural education and talent cultivation in universities. The exhibition breaks down the walls between galleries and schools, allowing students to enjoy artistic charm without leaving the campus.

"Art museums, as important carriers of culture and communication platforms, bear the important mission of promoting cultural reproduction. With a professional academic vision, China Art Museum will continue to explore and revitalize the essence of the city's culture and characters in the new era. With art exhibitions, the museum aims to make high-quality art resources more accessible to the public, and promote the prosperity of China's fine arts," said Wang Yichuan, executive director of China Art Museum.

Integrating various resources, Fudan University has held over 500 cultural activities on campus in 2024, including exhibitions, discipline weeks, city weeks, academic and popularization events.
