Lights shine on Guangfulin Relics Park - September 27, 2019

松江广富林遗址公园国庆首开夜场 10万平方米灯光秀亮相

Guangfulin Relics Park in Songjiang District will be opening at night for the first time from the upcoming National Day holiday with a lantern and light feast for the eyes.

The park will be illuminated by 40 groups of lanterns covering nearly 100,000 square meters and traditional Chinese folk music will be played.

Night operations will run through February 9 from 5:30pm to 10pm every day.

The relics park is built on the Guangfulin archeological site. Shanghai's earliest known residents lived some 4,000 years ago and the site was discovered by farmers in 1958 when they were digging a new waterway.

The highlight of the park is the exhibition hall which has three museums partly above and below water.

Relics including pottery, spinning wheels, cooking vessels and dishes are on display along with scenes from ancient times to the present.

Guyi Garden in Jiading District has recently started night operations as well.

City authorities are promoting the development of the night economy with a list of more than 100 cultural venues and tourist attractions that open at night released recently by the culture and tourism administration.

The night economy is an important part of the urban economy, and its prosperity an important sign of the openness and vitality of a city's economy, said Chen Ping, chief of the administration's market promotion department.
