A walk in the new park for Qingpu residents - January 03, 2020

青浦环城水系公园全线贯通 举办元旦迎新徒步活动

A 43-kilometer "water park" project circling around Qingpu District was completed on Wednesday, comprising four river courses and riverside spaces. The project,covering about 1.5 million square meters, strings green spaces and river resources across the district together, offering a leisure, cultural, fitness and tourism getaway for Qingpu residents. A total of 31 bridges were built and a riverside greenway was created for the project. In addition, 28 kilometers of river banks were renovated and 1,600 mu of greenery and forests built. There are 35 new leisure and sports venues as well as cycling and walking tracks in the park, and 18 piers for water tourism development. Sculptures and landscapes display Qingpu's water, shipping and folk cultures. Wi-Fi, teahouses and service stations are also included in the park's design. Construction took more than three years. A total of 2,020 people took part in a walk in the park on Wednesday to celebrate the New Year and completion of the project. There are four routes of 6.5 kilometers each.
