Bashmet leads the Moscow Soloists - November 11, 2014

LEGENDARY viola soloist Yuri Bashmet will perform in Shanghai with the Moscow Soloists, an orchestra which he founded more than two decades ago.
The program will feature two works by Tchaikovsky, as well as Britten’s “Simple Symphony,” Paganini’s “Concertino in A Minor for Viola and Strings” and Tan Dun’s piece “Eternal Vow.”
The 61-year-old Russian has performed with leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
He has worked under great conductors like Ozawa Seiji and Simon Rattle.
He has also collaborated with notable recital musicians including Sviatoslav Richter, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Martha Argerich and Evgeny Kissin.
He founded Moscow Soloists in 1992.
The chamber orchestra has performed in more than 40 countries and in famous venues like Carnegie Hall and Suntory Hall.
In 2007, the Moscow Soloists won a Grammy Award for a recording of Stravinsky and Prokofiev compositions.
Cellist Trey Lee will be a special guest soloist on Bashmet’s China tour.
Lee, the first Asian to win first prize at the International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition, has also worked with esteemed conductors and orchestras around the world.
