SHANGHAI will accelerate the development of vocational education to support its goal to become a global center for scientific and technological innovation, its mayor said yesterday.

“The development of vocational education in Shanghai should serve the need for the establishment of an innovation center, as well as its economic transformation and upgrading,” Yang Xiong told an industry conference.

“The more the economy develops, the better the vocational education we need,” he said.
