More Leading Foreign Firms to Attend CIIE for First Time This Year
More leading foreign companies will attend the fifth China International Import Expo for the first time this year, as the CIIE’s market influence has been expanding throughout the years.
Japanese chemicals giant Asahi Kasei learned that the CIIE is an important platform for businesses to expand awareness and gain recognition in China, so it decided to participate in the expo this year, Kondoh Shuji, executive officer and China general representative of the company, told Yicai Global.
Asahi Kasei plans to bring to the CIIE not only new products and goods to be introduced in China from Japan for the first time but also showcase some items that represent future trends, such as the company’s vehicle interior space concept, new optical resin products, and new construction technologies, said Shuji, who is also chairman and general manager of Asahi Kasei China Investment.
Unity China will debut a hair system made for virtual digital humans, an intelligent cockpit solution for cars, and a cloud editor that can lower the development threshold at the expo, Zhang Junbo, president and chief executive officer of the joint venture between US video games engine developer Unity Software, Alibaba Group Holdings, China Mobile, and other partners, told Yicai Global.
The three products use real-time three-dimensional engine technology and are suitable for application scenarios in the Chinese market, Zhang added.
Japanese watch brand Casio will also attend the CIIE for the first time. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its G-Shock brand and attract attention with themed marketing events, Casio plans to display the brand’s new, best-selling, and special anniversary models, a person in charge of the company told Yicai Global.
Italy’s largest pet food producer Monge also decided to join the CIIE after entering into strategic cooperation with Chinese partners late last year, Tang Yu, a person in charge of the firm’s Asia-Pacific business development, told Yicai Global. Monge plans to gradually bring its products and brands to China in the next few years, and the CIIE is definitely a good platform for that, Tang added.
Australian mining giant Rio Tinto Group and Canadian fuel cell system developer Loop Energy are also well-known newcomers for this year’s CIIE, Yicai Global learned. Loop Energy will debut its next generation fuel cell stacks at the expo.
