Shein Rival Temu to Debut in Australia, New Zealand on March 13
After North America, Temu, a Shein rival launched by Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo, is slated to debut in Australia and New Zealand on March 13.
The China-made products that have been available in the North American market will also enter the Australian market to help Chinese manufacturers offer their one-stop sales solutions to the globe, Securities Times reported, citing an executive in charge of Pinduoduo's cross-border e-commerce business.
In September, Pinduoduo launched Temu in North America, including the United States, to sell clothing, home appliances, luggage, toys, and stationery. The bulk-buy e-tailer that is known for its squeezed prices is luring merchants by requiring zero commission and deposits to open shops on the platform. The Shanghai-based firm will take care of warehousing, logistics, after-sales, as well as language and legal support.
As of Feb. 23, Temu was the most downloaded shopping application on Apple's App Store for the past 69 days and the same was true for Google Play for 114 days with over 40 million downloads. A single store has logged more than 30,000 orders per day and sales of a single item on the platform have exceeded 10,000 units per day.
