China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone bonded area hold a special promotion activity of Switzerland in Lausanne, Switzerland recently.
This is the first “face-to-face” promotion activity of bonded area held in Europe in 2023, and also the first overseas promotion activity organized by a government department in the bonded area since the establishment of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.
The event attracted dozens of participants from more than 60 Swiss companies. The participating enterprises believed that they had a deeper understanding of the favorable business environment in the bonded area of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone. They are looking forward to participating in the construction of Pudong area and sharing the new opportunities of the times.
“This zone has developed into a special customs supervision area with the largest economic scale and the most abundant business functions in China,” said Zhang Xi, the Deputy Director of the Management Committee of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. “And Swiss enterprises have been deeply engaged in such economic activities.”
The China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement was signed in July 2013 and came into effect in July 2014. It is a mutually beneficial agreement that has played a positive role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
More than 100 Swiss enterprises in different fields such as pharmaceuticals, watches and consumer goods have invested in the bonded area in recent years.
The combined revenues of these Swiss companies reached 101 billion yuan in 2022. At the same time, 715 enterprises in the bonded area are engaged in import and export business with Switzerland, with the total annual import and export volume reaching 26 billion yuan.
Zhang said that 2023 is the 10th anniversary of the signing of the China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement, as well as the 10th anniversary of the construction of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.
