嘉定完善交通体系助力长三角一体化 2023-07-17
The external transportation system in Shanghai's Jiading district sees expansion.
Shanghai's Jiading district has greatly improved its transportation system with the aim of becoming a comprehensive node that is better connected to other cities in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD).
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the designation of the integrated development of the YRD as a national strategy. Over the past few years, Jiading has achieved significant development in aspects such as highway reconstruction, inter-provincial rail transit connectivity, and the planning and construction of external transportation hubs.
For example, the Jiading section of G15 Expressway, an important high-speed passage from northwest Shanghai to Jiangsu province with an average daily traffic volume of 100,000 vehicles, is undergoing reconstruction to meet increasing traffic demands. The reconstruction project is expected to be completed by the end of July and will improve the section's capacity by 20 to 30 percent, according to Wang Jun, the project manager.
In addition, commuters between Jiading and neighboring Kunshan, a county-level city under the administration of Suzhou in Jiangsu province, can now take the subway as Suzhou's Metro Line 11, which is connected to Shanghai, was put into operation on June 24.
