上海交响乐团透露2023-24赛季的细节   2023-07-27

French cellist Gautier Capucon will be the SSO’s Artist in Residence for 2023-24 season.

Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on July 24 announced that its 2023-24 season will feature an array of premieres, joint-commissions and acclaimed guest artists and ensembles.

The season consists of 92 shows, 35 of which will feature guest artists such as pianist Steven Hough, violinist Leonidas Kavakos, baritone Thomas Bauer and Matthias Goerne, Soprano Olga Peretyatko, cellist Wang Jian, and conductor Christoph Eschenbach.

French cellist Gautier Capucon will be the SSO's Artist in Residence for 2023-24 and perform three concerts on Sep 22, Dec 16 and May 17, 2024.

Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as a "rare performer who can bring such ease and refinement to this music, while still giving everything he plays a sense of dramatic urgency", Capucon has won multiple awards (including four ECHO Klassik Awards) for his performances and recordings.

Under the baton of artistic director Yu Long, the orchestra will present the world premiere of Émigré, a new oratorio by award-winning composer Aaron Zigman, with lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winning librettist Mark Campbell and songwriter Brock Walsh.

A joint commission between Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic, the work will premiere on Nov 17 at the Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall before it makes its US premiere on Feb 29, 2024 at the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.
