Shanghai plans to have more than 50 percent of the new vehicles purchased by individuals to be pure electric cars by 2025, according to an ambitious clean air action plan for the next three years rolled out by the metropolis yesterday.
Shanghai will promote the use of pure electric cars and hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty vehicles, according to the Shanghai Clean Air Action Plan (2023-2025).
The city will ensure that all motor vehicles produced, imported and sold in the city comply with environmental protection standards it will eliminate diesel trucks that still use National III emission levels and upgrade non-road machinery emission standards, it said.
