The Shanghai Putuo District People's Procuratorate, the Shanghai Putuo District Market Supervision Administration and food delivery platform Eleme jointly establish a contact station to protect juveniles in the cyber space on Aug 28, 2023.
The Shanghai Putuo District People's Procuratorate, the Shanghai Putuo District Market Supervision Administration, and food delivery platform Eleme on Monday jointly signed a collaboration agreement to protect juveniles in cyber space.
The agreement is the first of its kind in the city.
The first objective of this agreement is to ensure that cigarettes and alcohol are not sold to minors on the online food delivery platform, said the three parties. All shops selling such products on Eleme have also published a notice on the app stating that they will not sell cigarettes and alcohol to minors.
In the future, the agreement will identify clues that suggest the rights and interests of minors are being infringed upon, help minors safeguard their rights, and prompt enterprises to operate their businesses in accordance with laws and regulations.
More online business operators may join the agreement in the future, said the institutions.
