中国现代化道路国际论坛在上海举行 2023-09-27
The Chinese path to modernization serves as a model for developing countries to achieve modernization, according to experts at an international forum hosted by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on Sept 23.
China will not impose its development model on developing countries like the Western colonists did, but will instead help the world to establish a new, just and reasonable order, said Zhu Rui, former assistant to the minister of International Department of the CPC Central Committee, during the forum.
The Chinese path to modernization has already been well-received by the people of developing countries, and this demonstrates that modernization is not only a pursuit of the Chinese people, but also the common aspiration of people all around the world, Zhu added.
During the forum, experts and scholars from numerous countries exchanged ideas regarding scientific connotation, significant achievements, historical status and the global impact of the Chinese path to modernization.
"China's modernization path provides an important reference for some marginal countries that used to try to imitate the capitalist countries to achieve modernization," said Niemeyer Almeida Filho, professor of the Institute of Economics and International Relations of the Federal University of Uberlandia.
Filho noted that the growth of China's socialist market economy is aligned with the socialist philosophy that favors the community over the individual. China's state structure is unique in that it, unlike in a capitalist society, manages the macro economy with institutional innovations, he added.
The Western approach to modernization attempts to transform every region into a Western society, but ignores the profound influence of each region's specific history, culture and modernity, said Adnan Akfirat, chairman of the Turkish-Chinese Business Development and Friendship Association.
"China's unique approach to modernization offers great hope," he said.
The basic tenet of Chinese modernization is to carry out modernization in line with the local conditions rather than simply imitating the West. The aim of the former, he added, is about promoting a global community with a shared future.
The forum also witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the Dishui Lake Think Tank of SUFE. The objective of the think tank is to support the development of the Lingang New Area in Pudong, serve as a platform for production, service, exchange and incubation of think tanks, and to contribute to the country's major strategies.
