Yoga enthusiasts from more than 10 countries practice together on Nanjing Road E. last Sunday morning for the annual Shanghai Yoga Lifestyle Festival.
Yoga mats replaced shopping bags last weekend on Nanjing Road E., one of the world's busiest shopping streets.
The Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall hosted the 5th Shanghai Yoga Lifestyle Festival over last weekend, drawing yoga enthusiasts from more than 10 countries.
The events were part of the 2025 Shanghai Nightlife Festival. Over 50 participants gathered at Century Square and in front of the Peace Hotel to practice yoga with live music and art.
At Century Square, musicians from around the world performed with instruments including African drums, handpans, and Middle Eastern percussion. Yoga practitioners followed the rhythm during three evening sessions last Saturday.

On Sunday morning, the Peace Hotel featured a yoga and music healing program under its historic arch. The performance blended traditional Chinese instruments, such as guqin, with piano and handpan to guide meditation.
"It is an amazing experience because every upward stretch faced the sunrise on the Bund, and every downward pose looked toward Nanjing Road's historic buildings," said a participant surnamed Wang.
Officials said the festival has grown into a cultural brand over the past five years. They said the Nanjing Road E. will continue hosting international events that combine health, culture, and commerce.
