Hello无人驾驶出租车业务获得阿里巴巴投资，商业化进程加速 2025-09-18
Hello, a Chinese bike-sharing giant, said its fledgling Robotaxi business has received an investment from internet giant Alibaba Group Holding, with the pair to team up on smart driving models and computing power to accelerate commercialization of the service.
Hello and Alibaba will jointly build basic models of vision, voice, language, and special models for intelligent cockpits under mutual business benefits, Shanghai-based Hello announced on WeChat on Wednesday. The two will also explore the innovative application of cutting-edge tech such as world models in autonomous driving, it added, without disclosing the investment amount.
Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba, will also conduct joint technology research and development with Hello to assist in Robotaxi's algorithm iteration, user experience optimization, and operational efficiency improvement, Hello pointed out.
Hangzhou-based Alibaba has deep tech accumulation in artificial intelligence, which is highly compatible with the computing power and algorithm support required for Robotaxi's large-scale commercialization, said Yang Lei, co-founder and chief executive of Hello. The tie-up will deeply integrate both sides' tech strategy and industrial vision, he added.
Hello announced its entry into the Robotaxi market in June, joining hands with leading financial technology firm Ant Group, one of its major shareholders, and battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology to establish a CNY3 billion (USD422.3 million) joint venture to promote the commercialization of the business.
Hello unveiled its first Robotaxi model, the Hello Robot 1, at the four-day 2025 Inclusion Conference on the Bund in Shanghai, which ended Sept. 13. Mass production will be achieved next year, deploying 50,000 units in 2027, according to the company.
More than 200 technical elites from the world's top universities and scientific research institutions have joined Hello's Robotaxi team, with the firm to continue to absorb top AI tech talent to promote the large-scale application of autonomous driving tech, it noted.
Established in 2016, Hello started from a bike-sharing business but gradually developed into a comprehensive service platform covering ride-hailing, car rental, and battery swap services. It has over 800 million registered users, according to its website.
