G60 Sci-Tech Corridor
The development of Songjiang District was put on the fast track during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with its GDP surpassing 220 billion yuan (US$30 billion) in 2024 and innovation and ecological development reaching a new level, local officials announced on Tuesday.
As Shanghai's southwest gateway and the launch point of the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, Songjiang positions itself as a core component of the city's science and innovation development.
"Songjiang has adhered to its strategic role as a hub for advanced manufacturing, a pilot zone for new quality productive forces, a model for modern New City development, and a demonstration area for rural revitalization," said Wang Huajie, Party secretary of the district.
Songjiang continues to rely on a strong manufacturing base. The district has 1,758 industrial enterprises above the designated size, the most among all Shanghai districts, and ranks second citywide in industrial output. It has cultivated 99 national "little giant" specialized and innovative firms and 1,533 municipal-level specialized and innovative enterprises.
The total import and export volume of the district ranks second in the city, and the district has registered 83 foreign-invested R&D centers, accounting for one-tenth of the city's total.

Songjiang has a vibrant environment.
The district is building a modern industrial system, anchored by two 100-billion-yuan industries, including new-generation information technology and high-end equipment, and supported by four 10-billion-yuan sectors, including advanced materials, life and health, fashion consumer goods, and film and television.
The G60 Sci-Tech Corridor continues to deepen its role in national-level integration strategies. Platforms such as ESG alliances, major innovation alliances, and low-altitude economy cooperation networks have emerged, with G60 technology auctions surpassing 50 billion yuan in cumulative transactions.
Songjiang University Town, home to eight universities and nearly 120,000 students and faculty, is being upgraded into a major innovation source. Plans include 19 functional platforms, more than one million square meters of new R&D facilities, and 20,000 talent apartments, aiming to build a highland for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
Eighty percent of cities in the Yangtze River Delta region can be reached within one and two hours, making Songjiang an important node in the region.
The underground connection project of Renmin and Guyang roads is expected to start within the year, and the west extension of Metro Line 12 is under accelerated construction.
The district's forest coverage rate reaches 19.28 percent, ranking second in the city.
