上海马拉松创女子纪录,确认2026年参赛日期 2025-11-30
Kenyan runner Brigid Kosgei created a new women's record for Shanghai Marathon, completing the 42-kilometer distance in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 36 seconds.
Twenty-three thousand runners took off from the Bund last Sunday morning for the annual race, including 19 wheelchair-bound athletes.

Ethiopian runners dominated the men's podium. Milkesa Mengesha was the first to cross the finishline at Shanghai Stadium, clocking 2:06:25. He was followed by Dawit Wolde (2:06:27) and Deresa Geleta (2:06:36).
Women's champion Kosgei was four minutes ahead of the previous record of 2:20:37 set by Ethiopian runner Yebrgual Melese Arage in 2018.
"I'm very happy because I improved my best time," she said. "I was targeting at 2 hours and 17 minutes, but I did even better. I want to say thanks to everyone cheering for me along the way."

"The course is very flat, so if a runner is well prepared, he or she can achieve good results," she added. "I hope the Shanghai Marathon will become a World Majors race, and I will come back for it."
Kosgei was followed by compatriot Irine Chepet Cheptai (2:18:51) and Tiruye Mesfin (2:20:38) from Ethiopia.
The wheelchair athletes started their race 15 minutes ahead of the main group. Luo Xingchuan from China became the men's champion, clocking 1:26:30. The women's crown went to China's Tian Yajuan.

Over 2,000 international runners took part in this year's event. After being chosen as a candidate race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors – the world's largest high-level marathon series, Shanghai Marathon has been making continuous efforts to improve its race experience and services for runners.
More toilets for male runners have been arranged near the startline this year to meet the demand – an experience drawn from the Tokyo Marathon.

Near 4,340 volunteers from 11 universities provided service for this year's event. 43 medical spots have been arranged along the route, as well as 36 ambulances and 275 AED devices to ensure runners' safety.
To expand the influence of Shanghai Marathon, this year's event produced an international live broadcast signal and was aired in eight countries.
Shanghai Marathon's International Traveler Program has attracted over 580 international applicants from 26 countries this year. The event partners with travel agencies to provide tailored race and tour packages for ITP runners, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the city and Chinese culture beyond the race.

If Shanghai Marathon passes the Abbott World Marathon Majors' two inspections this year and in 2026, by 2027, it will be named a World Majors event, on par with the world's most prestigious marathons, including the Boston, London, Berlin, and Tokyo marathons.
"It's been great to see how Shanghai has taken on board our suggestions, and delivered adjustments and changes in the past 12 months," said Lisa Thompson, operative director of the World Marathon Majors and the race director of London Marathon.

"We are very happy with this year's wheelchair program. Both men's and women's winners are from China, giving them the opportunity to compete in international events, and that's something we are very pleased to see," she added.
"If Shanghai Marathon becomes a World Majors race, it will help raise the level of China's running events, because more elite runners from overseas will join us and help us improve," said Chinese runner Feng Peiyou.
The Guizhou Province native became the fastest Chinese male runner, completing the race in 2:08:36.

Meanwhile, the organizers announced that next year's Shanghai Marathon will be held on December 6, 2026, with additional slots. Registration will start around the end of April to allow overseas runners make early plans.
A 5km fitness run will be organized on December 5. The finishline will also be set at Shanghai Stadium, allowing amateur runners to experience the vibes of the main event.
