上海青少年舞蹈队凭借“中国红”中场表演创造NBA历史 2026-02-23
A youth street dance group from Shanghai made history on February 20 by becoming the first Chinese teenage hip-hop crew to perform at an NBA halftime show, bringing a burst of "China Red" to the home court of the Chicago Bulls.
ACS KIDS, also known as 钢筋水泥少年团 in Chinese, took the floor during the Bulls' home game with a performance that fused modern street dance with traditional Chinese elements, including the suona, a piercing double-reed horn often heard at festivals and ceremonies.
The routine centered on a bold red visual theme symbolizing Chinese culture and celebration, creating a striking contrast against the arena's lights and hardwood court. The blend of folk instrumentation and urban choreography drew enthusiastic reactions online, with some viewers saying the performance "made the world remember this touch of China Red."
The Shanghai-based group is known for combining urban dance styles with Chinese cultural motifs. Their name — which translates literally to "Reinforced Concrete Youth" — is widely seen as a nod to the resilience and creativity of a new generation growing up in China's fast-paced cities.
The appearance marked a milestone for Chinese youth street dance on an international sports stage, reflecting the growing global exchange between basketball culture and hip-hop performance.
ACS KIDS is made up of a group of passionate young dancers known for their fearless style, explosive stage presence and fluid movement driven by music.
The team is led by Hu Bowen, a versatile dancer from Shanghai's ACS dance label, whose experience and artistic vision have guided the group's rapid rise. Under his mentorship, the crew has developed a distinctive style blending technical precision with high-energy performance.
In August 2024, ACS KIDS represented China at the WORLD OF DANCE World Finals, earning seventh place in the youth division of the international qualifying round — a notable achievement on one of the world's most competitive street dance stages.
Two months later, the group captured the youth division championship at the WSUP Team Dance Competition with its performance piece "Wing Chun II," further cementing its reputation as one of China's most promising youth street dance teams.
