黄浦江东岸将建21座灯塔造福市民 2016-05-19
TWENTY-ONE lighthouses will be built along the east bank of the Huangpu River to illuminate a path for joggers, walkers and cyclists, according to a plan released yesterday.
The lighthouses, which will be built within three years and house cafes and toilets, will be situated every kilometer along the east side of the river between the Yangpu and Xupu bridges. It is part of a broader project to “create a world-class promenade to improve the image of the city.”
Three lanes for cycling, running and walking will be built along the bank. The path will be surrounded by trees and plants to make it look like a green ribbon running along the river, Zhang Yuxin, deputy governor of the Pudong New Area, told Shanghai Television Station.
